Katie Markwardt, LMSW holds a Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where she specialized in Direct Practice. Her background in evidence-based clinical practice includes diverse set of working environments.  She has had the privilege and pleasure to work in inpatient, rural and urban psychiatric units and community mental health agencies.  

Katie Markwardt has assisted and collaborated with many children, adolescents and adults in Michigan and Pennsylvania.  She has worked with several advocacy organizations including National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Wydotte Hospital Advocates for Mental Illness (WHAMI), and she is passionate about empowerment of individuals with mental health needs and impact of oppression.  

Katie pays close attention to mind/ body connection.   Her clinical work is grounded in evidence and mindfulness based cognitive behavioral approaches of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.  She also incorporates Motivational Interviewing.  Her clinical interests include general mental health, mood and anxiety disorders as well as eating and body image concerns. Katie is passionate about working with LGBTQIA folks and social justice issues.
